Inspired by Jerseys and Hockey Love's entry on the Las Vegas Wrangler's hockey commercials, here are some other very funny hockey-related commercials to fill your void. Because the Sens finally have a day off, and the fact that this week is the start of many academia-related deadlines, this ought to pass your time adequately.
My favourites are the Nike ones from the '90s with the fake ex-goalies. Gosh, those were glorious.
I was absolutely in love with Fedorov at one point. And then he went and got married to some tennis chick and things were never the same [sigh].
Probably my favourite one from the lockout. Only in Canada:

oh man I used to love the Nike goalies! So funny!
those are hilarious. i don't remember them from my youth. the wranglers' commercials were good too.
Nike ad people are genius. I mean they can make it enjoyable and clean cut. Remember that soccer one where they had the Elvis Presley song and a cage with a lot of celebrities. That was good.
But the Shanahan one was pretty good, "I love you too my brother!"
You know what's annoying. I show the goalie ads to my sisters who can not get enough of them. Whereas my friends don't even crack a smile.
Oh and: WEAK GLOVE HAND!
The cab driver goalie: In the back seat is comedian Jim Gaffigan. Funny as hell.
Thanks for the shout out.
If you are so inclined. You should put Team Scarlett in your sidebar, so we can find them easy.
Nice to see a time when NHL commercials were funny (not contrived) and featured star players (not actors).
That Molson ad was priceless. You should ad the one when the lockout ends: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j10PQb8P8iY&mode=related&search=
Comedy Gold.
Great post!
Also of note:
In the spot with the Blackhawks goalie, Mac from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is on the left. Kevin, from American Pie fame, is on the right.
Small parts, no doubt, but perhaps that's where they got their start. USED TO?!?
I was browsing through your cool site and came across these classic videos and it took me back. Those goalie ones with Fedorov rocked! LMAO...god. Where has that gone? Outside of the Crosby-Ovechkin Seinfeld imitation, they don't have ads that draw you in.
This is just an awesome collection of videos. Must say I love it!
Keep up the good work.
Kovy - I agree! The new ones they put out this year are very entertaining but nothing that grabs you like these oldies did.
Has anyone found a place to view the new Hockey Coach commercials?? I've been looking and just haven't been able to find them yet. My favorite so far has to be the one about where hockey got it's name. (The coach explains "Why isn't it called Puckey?")
I've only been watching hockey for a couple of years now, so I had not seen these commercials until today. They were great!! Banana in the tailpipe had me rolling!!
Thanks!!
