Your 2007 Stanley Cup Champions: Anaheim Ducks

To the Duck fans. I want so badly to be a gracious loser right now because while I detest your team, I actually quite like most of you. I just can't find it in me right now so you'll excuse me if all I say is 'Congratulations' and nothing more until later.

I'm was somewhat embarrassed at how emotional I got with my post awhile ago but I was assured that emotion during the playoffs weren't a bad thing, so here goes.

I walked into the house from the Bulldogs game just when the handshakes started. My housemates looked at me and didn't say a word. I already knew. I wasn't as devastated as I thought I was going to be. The fact that the Bulldogs won 6-2 tonight in an exciting game helped. I was sad, but not surprised.

I went into the shower straight away, fully expecting to explode at any moment and feel the need to scream. But I didn't. Now I'm sitting here, fully calm, albeit a little bit tired and smelling of lavender to boot.

Thank you Ottawa Senators, for a spectacular season. I was thoroughly entertained and stimulated by you. I fell in love with you guys all over again hearing about all of the stories and little anecdotes that popped up over the season. It would have been so much easier if I wasn't so emotionally invested, but it's all because we want to see you happy. That's what makes us happy.

Thank you for playing your hearts out. Thank you for taking us so close. Thank you for fully embracing the challenge and not buckling under the pressure. Thank you for the passion and the emotion. Thank you for the highs and the lows and the chocolaty middles. Thank you for making me rediscover what I loved so much about hockey in the first place.

I'll be once again going into media hibernation. I want to see how the boys are doing because I want to know that they're okay. I know that seeing them trying to put on a brave face for the rest of us will just break whatever is in place of a heart in my hollow tin chest. The media can be ruthless as they will be nitpicking everything they did wrong. I don't blame them, they should, it's their job. It might be hard considering I work at a radio station but it's not entirely impossible.

Thanks for a wonderful blogging season. Thanks to everybody who's read and for embracing this blog the way you guys have. I never imagined it to take off so quickly and so well. I appreciate all of you guys who have been reading and I love all of the comments and dialogue. If I could, I would buy all of you a drink for all of your love and support.

I'll have pictures from the Bulldogs game up tomorrow and some more indepth talk tomorrow.

Hockey is awesome.

Congrats on an excellent blog Season Sherry. Best of the enemy blogs, you almost make me feel sorry for your Senators.
Hope to see you back next season.

Sorry the dream didn't work for you this year. Sometimes you need to stumble on the big stage before you can run back and take the whole thing, like the Ducks did. Here's to a good summer and starting up in four short months from now :)

I was sadder than I thought I'd be. I really was. I wanted so bad for Antoine to get that shot. I wanted so bad not to see Pronger with that cup. I drank more beer than the drinking age should have allowed me to especially since I was actually out at a bar.

I hope your Bulldogs win at least. Go Stortini!

    All class Sherry, all class.

You're classy as all hell. Great blog, Sherry.

I was rooting for the Sens and it broke my heart to see them fall in the end, but to come so far is quite an achievement on its own -- you guys are almost there, and now that the boys have tasted Cup Finals, I know they'll want more and more.

Not gonna lie... I'm still in disbelief that it's over and had to pop a couple antacids before bed for my sour tummy.

At least we still have the Bulldogs!

Oh hun, if I were there I'd guarantee we'd be out and about and forgetting "Alfreddson who?". Not to mention you're taking this way better than I would/did.

Tough one. For me it was a two loss night. First the Senators, then the Bears. It really has been a tough couple weeks so far.

I'm sorry, girl. Make sure you get an ice cream sundae or a gigantic frappuccino today. It will help massage the pain.

I'm very sorry for you. I hope that you manage to find some way to ease the pain.
That was the shittiest birthday gift ever. At least I'm 19 now so can go drown my sorrows.

Sharing your pain, Sherry. It feels like a hole in my stomach right now.

I know that in about 2 weeks, I'll look back at this year with really good memories. Can't wait for that time.

Great blogging this season. Really appreciate your work on it.

Dear everyone: thank you for all of your support and well wishes!

Jordi - I don't want to forget Alfredsson! He was a bright spot certainly during this post-season.

I certainly hope the Bulldogs get 'er done at least. Then I can at least attend that parade.

I've had ice cream and Mochas on stand-by all day. I made it through okay. Surprisingly I was up and functional and was able to make it to work on time.

Thanks to everybody for reading and all your kind words. I hope I can make the blog even better next year :)
