Consider this a cheap post of the day as I'm stuck at work this lovely Friday evening. However, I felt compelled to give you guys an update on our captain Daniel Alfredsson. He's officially listed as day-to-day with a hip flexor. He missed 5 games last season with the same injury but there is still hope he can play against Tampa Bay tomorrow. The Senators will be playing back-to-back games as they square off against Philly on Sunday. Speaking of squaring off...
If Alfredsson is out, then it all but guarantees that the Senators will have enforcer Brian McGrattan in the lineup Saturday and Sunday, but McGrattan said if he plays against the Flyers, he won't go looking to even the score against Downie.
"I don't think we have to focus on that," McGrattan said. "If it's within the rules and he's there, then I'll hit him, but everything will be within the rules.
"I'm not going to go out there and jump him from behind and cause a big melee. I don't need that." --Ottawa Sun
Well, it'll be pretty hard for Gratts to pick a fight with Downie from the bench considering he averages about 6 seconds of ice time.
Celebrating Willie O'Ree

50 years ago today, Willie O'Ree became the first black player to lace up in a NHL game. TSN.ca and Joe Pelletier has put together some great pieces and resources about this very important event in history.

I hope they rest Alfie tonight. The team has to figure out how to step up when key guys are missing and tonight is as good a time as any to try it out. Let Alfie rest the hip flexors and play stronger for the upcoming road trip.
What a pathetic offensive performance we witnessed tonight.
Blitzen, I saw the highlights and I have to say that there were some good chances, but for some reason they just were not burying anything.
I'm glad Alfie is getting the rest, I think it'll do him good. But this team really needs to get it together.
