Emery showed up four minutes after the team took the ice for a 4pm skate at the Farmingdale Iceworks practice facility in Long Island on Monday as the team prepares to face the Islanders Tuesday. He was then told not to join the team on the ice for practice.
"I decided we wouldn't go on the ice until 4pm and when he wasn't here, it was done with until I talk to him and talk to (Senators general manager) Bryan (Murray) or we both talk to Ray," Paddock said after practice.
Sources tell TSN that Emery maintains he was late because he thought the practice was at the Nassau Coliseum, not the Islanders' practice facility. --TSN.ca

Now, I'm actually quite sympathetic to your plight because I too am not a morning person. Maybe you're just not quite used to having to you know, be on time for things but if I've learned anything in my years as a professional student, it's how to get up early enough so that I'll be on time for things. Allow me, if I may to impart some unsolicited advice so that you can stop screwing your team over.
- Set All Your Clocks 10 Minutes Ahead - Keep in mind though this will only be effective if you remember that they're not set ahead. Maybe have one of your teammates do it while you're out of the house and not tell you when. This way you'll think you're late when you're really actually early! That'll get you back into Paddock's good books.
- Set Your ALARM an HOUR Ahead - There's no greater feeling than waking up and realizing you still have more time to sleep. If you set your hour way earlier than you actually need it to be, you'll be reminded that you need to wake up and with your constant need to hit the snooze button, it'll be like you're awake already!
- Make a Packed Lunch the Night Before - Nothing takes up more time than having to worry about breakfast and lunch for the day. Why not go back to those high school days of yore when your mother so lovingly packed you a snack and a sandwich in those good ol' Thermos bags? They're environmentally friendly as well!
- Have Somebody Call You When You Need to Wake Up - Our school has this nasty bit of business of having exams start at 9 a.m. Some of my friends, who worry about not being able to wake up in time, have people who they know are early risers give them a call at the appropriate time. What about Dean McAmmond? He's got a brood of kids, I'm sure he's up at all hours.
- Car Pool - Look, with your driving track record I'm not so sure this isn't a bad idea. Back to the whole 'environmentally business', given your vehicles of choice I'm sure car pooling will earn you back some brownie points from good ol' Mother Nature there. She is one broad you do not want to piss off.

Sherry, I have zero tolerance left for this guy. For a while there, I thought he would be face of the NHL...young, charismatic, etc etc. Now he is just a whiner who throws water bottles and disrespects his teamates. I vote that they send him down to the AHL for a while. Hopefully riding on the team bus for hours on end will remind him how lucky he is.

He was late for a 4pm practice. There is no sympathy to be had for this man.
I wrote a long diatribe about Emery's childish behaviour as well.
Personally, I think he's on his last life in O-town. If I'm Murray, I'm dealing him for a Top-6 forward at the deadline.

Shmee, I have to admit that in the past I was very much an Emery apologist. I mean his antics were pretty funny at first but now it's gotten to the point where it really is hurting the team. I was really excited about his personality and his...uniqueness, I mean it's good for the league but I really don't think it's worth all the trouble.
I would be more confident about sending him down if I had a better picture of how our goalie prospects were doing. I would not be adverse to sending him down to ride the buses with Binghamton once the AHL All-Star Break is over.

Jay, this is true. I don't know why I excused him for not being a morning person when it was clearly an afternoon practice!
Teebz, Murray has said he's been trying to trade him but there hasn't been any takers. Actually, he said he didn't want to trade him but it's looking more and more necessary. it's tough though because I don't see who would want to accept that liability given his very public track record.
ARG! Sherry - I hate to say 'i told you so' but 'I TOLD YOU SO!'
His cockiness, his attitude has gotten him in this mess.
I have stated this since last year. Yes he did come in and take us in to the play-offs, but seriously, did he really win us a game? Alfie did most if not all of the work, and you could have a trained chimp in nets and still win with that team in front of you.
I totally saw this coming; he needs to have his ass sent back to BINGO for the remainder of his contract.
Last year, after he and Belly made that 'GO SENS GO' song, and he got his ass handed to him by the Ducks, it was just the start of his crap.
As a SENS fan, and as a 5 year season ticket holder, I can't stand the guy. If you got paid 3.5 million a year for your job, one would think that you would be there hours early - you are paid to what you are worth.

PaV, no worries you're welcome to rant here anytime. On the one hand, I share your frustration, but on the other hand I feel like we all need to calm down a bit. There's time to fix it and given the situation right now, we need Emery until the goaltending situation sorts itself out better.
