Ray Emery cleared waivers on Saturday and is now officially an UFA and available to the highest bidder. The Senators now have to pay out 1/3rd of the $6.75 million dollars left on his contract. There are 2 years left on his contract, and the payout can be spread out over twice the length which amounts to $600,000 over four years.
Draft Round-Up
Hope everybody had a great time at the draft and meeting up with one another (I should have been there!). I think everybody else has covered the new Senators prospects in a much better fashion than I would have been able to so I won't bother. However, I did feel so proud for the Senators fans who were there and their hearty cheering of Alfie. I also thought it was a nice though that he was the one to announce the drafting of his fellow Swede Erik Karlsson. I also found it hilarious that the poor boy didn't know what to put down to shake James Duthie hand in the post-draft interview. He wasn't snubbing you! He was just confused!

I so wanted Erik Karlsson. I had no delusion that he was going to drop down to #30 so the Wings could snatch him up like we do with all the promising little Swedes, but I confess, my first reaction to the Sens grabbing him was "$#&%!" - but my second was to think that perhaps somewhere down the line I will have a reason to dislike your boys a little bit less. And the handshake thing totally sealed it! How adorable!
I know you did Steph! And for the sake of our friendship and HLOG sisterhood, I thought it best to give you a few days to come to terms with his now impending Senators-hood before I started rubbing it in :P Hey this could mean good things for your new found Senators love! (Which is yet to be found, I know but I'm working on it. Give me time)
