The boys in red are in Sweden right now, jet-lagging and watching Seinfeld at midnight to get set for their season opener against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Gothenburg on Saturday.
The trip for Daniel Alfredsson has been described as "surreal". The team seems to be enjoying their time there and getting a chance to bond with one another while for Alfie, it must be both wonderful and strange to have his two worlds collide like this. And if there was any doubt, Sweden loves Alfie:
Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson became the first former Frolunda player to have his own display of distinction at the Scandinavium, the Swedish Elite League team's 12,044-seat home arena in Alfredsson's hometown,
During the first intermission of tonight's Frolunda-Rogle game, a pillar was unveiled near the building's main entrance that honoured Alfredsson as one of the "all-time favourite" players in club history. Alfredsson enjoyed two stints with Frolunda during his career, most recently during the 2004-05 NHL lockout season, when he helped the Indians win the league title.
The Senators have been covering the Senators in Sweden on their website with various videos and photos. The good news is from the photos it looks like Mike Fisher ought to be good to go. And if you've ever wanted to learn some Swedish, Alfie teaches you some phrases. That sneaky bastard.
Sens Army introduces you to Frolunda HC of Gothenburg whom the Senators will be facing Thursday at 1 pm EDT. While Black Aces has projected line-ups that will be in use. Which...coach, I'm willing to give this a shot but why would you break up a line as effective as Bass, Ruutu and Neil? Who will we call the "BURN" (Hat-tip to Meaghan) line now?
Have you seen the potential new NHL.com? Pretty slick.

I am dismayed to see the Burn (or Buurn?) line broken up already! I feel unhappy about these projected lines. Very, very unhappy.
But I hope everyone is having fun in Sweden.
Technically it'd be the Bruun line wouldn't it? Oh well, details :P
They seem to be having fun, although some of them seems to be jet lagging, heh.
